How Medigap switching works in Massachusetts
Massachusetts does not use the standardized Medigap plan letters (like Plan G or Plan N) that most of the country uses. It runs its own version of Medicare Supplement coverage with its own rules for benefits and enrollment. That makes comparing options here different from anywhere else, and it makes good guidance matter more.
Pinnacle Insurance Advisors is not licensed in Massachusetts, so we cannot enroll Massachusetts residents, and we would rather tell you that plainly than waste your time. The free counseling program below is a trustworthy place to start. And if you split your time between Massachusetts and a state we do serve, we may still be able to help, depending on your state of residence.
Massachusetts standardizes its own Medicare Supplement plans, with names like Core and Supplement 1A instead of the federal lettered plans, and every Medigap insurer in the state must offer the Core plan. Carriers there offer continuous open enrollment, meaning eligible residents can enroll in or change a plan during any month of the year.
State rules change. We confirm the current rules before any application, and Medicare.gov is the official federal resource.
